Bill has been a leader in real estate investments, project analyses, consulting, site selection, development, and leasing for over 40 years. He studied architecture at Georgia Tech and graduated as an industrial engineer.

With over 40 years of experience in the retail and restaurant industries, Bill Bussey, CCIM, is a highly regarded Senior Broker at Bradley Company specializing in retail site selection, development, and investment advisory services. Known for his ability to tackle challenging properties, Bill combines extensive market knowledge, innovative strategies, and a results-oriented approach to deliver value for his clients in Michigan and Indiana. Bill’s mission is to help clients grow profitably by identifying and securing sites that meet their specific requirements and objectives. His expertise extends to singlesite transactions as well as strategic market domination efforts. Bill also negotiates favorable lease terms for new locations, renewals, expansions, and purchases. Bill is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and studied architecture at Georgia Tech, where he graduated as an industrial engineer. Before joining Bradley Company, he was a partner and Vice President at Colliers/Grand Rapids and its predecessor companies for 15 years.

Frequently, as part of the developments mentioned below, Bill was instrumental in finding great locations, structuring and analyzing the financial aspects of the development, and then managing the projects to ensure their success.

 

REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT PROJECTS AND PROJECT ANALYSIS

  • Muskegon Crossings, a 30-acre commercial development in Muskegon that now includes Home Depot, Aldi, Gordon Foods, Dollar Tree, Lake Michigan Credit Union, Rite Aid, and many others.
  • Kentwood Independent Senior apartment complex (90 units) with partners.
  • Developed (and redeveloped) 7 retail centers totaling 243,000 sf.

 

LAND ASSEMBLAGE

  • Assembled and purchased over 33 prime acres (13 owners) at Knapp’s Corner in Grand Rapids with partners. This property now includes 210,000 SF Meijer’s, Wendy’s, and other successful retailers.
  • Assembled 40 acres with partners for a retail power center near Metropolitan Hospital and north of the Byron Center Avenue and M6 interchange.

 

CONSULTING

  • Detailed market analysis, including alternative site comparisons
  • Assisted retailers and restaurants identify their most important site criteria for successful locations and used that information to find the best sites. Bill was also the real estate advisor for a high-profile bankruptcy case in Grand Rapids and helped the Grand Rapids Ballet solve some challenging real estate problems.

 

LAND DISPOSITION

  • Clients include JCPenney (Realty Asset Group), Big Boy, Meijer, National Amusements (theater sites throughout Michigan).

 

SITE SELECTION

  • Representing IHOP, we identified and acquired all 13 sites throughout west Michigan.
  • Located two successful sites for Home Depot, three sites for Family Farm and Home.
  • Krispy Kreme’s only Grand Rapids site (4000 sf).
