Serenity Place, an affordable, low-income apartment complex, was created to combat homelessness in Marshall County, and has been an ongoing project for several years.[1] It was a real team effort to get the property ready for the grand opening and ultimately, for lease-up. Not only did Holly Richwalski, Senior Property Manager, and Alonda Jenkins, Regional Property Manager, spend time acquiring start-up household goods for the previously homeless residents, but the entire Garden Court team jumped in and spent a full day cleaning and putting furniture together for the grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Holly Richwalski went above and beyond the call of duty, sending out over 120 letters to local business asking for furniture donations for residents. She purchased and put together a welcome basket for every apartment, containing household essentials such as bowls, plates, pots, pans, soap, silverware, cleaning materials, and more.
“Whether it’s working with contractors to make sure the property has phones and internet, installing furniture, or reviewing last minute operational details, the Garden Court team has really put in the extra effort so that Serenity Place will have a successful opening.
